Important Information Concerning Procedures for Opening a New Account
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.
What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law (Section 326) requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. We will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that will allow us to identify you and all listed on your account. A photocopy of picture identification for yourself and any other persons who will be listed on your account may be obtained. Acceptable forms of picture identification include your state issued driver’s license, military identification card, state identification card, etc.
If you are an existing member who joined the credit union before the USA Patriot Act rules became effective, October 26, 2001, we may also need to verify and retain copies of any documents used to verify your identity when you request a new deposit account, apply for a loan or are added as a signatory to a new or existing deposit or loan account.
If, for any reason, you are unable to provide the information necessary to verify your identity, the account(s) may not be opened; or the account(s) may be blocked or closed, which may result in additional fees assessed to the account(s).
Thank you for supporting these efforts as we work to maintain the security of our funds. For questions or concerns regarding Mutual Savings Credit Union identity verification procedures, please contact us at (800) 771-6695 or (404) 584-4754 or visit your local branch.
In order to process your application for membership, we must have a copy of a form of photo identification available for each person who is listed on the account.
