1. Why should I join MSCU?
A credit union is a not–for–profit financial cooperative where every member is an owner. MSCU offers a full array of financial products and services. You will find many of our services are FREE – we try to pay higher rates on deposits and charge lower rates on loans compared to the competition.
MSCU has been serving SCG employees and their families since 1933 – that is our entire focus. Some members use MSCU for an extra savings account, or only do their loans with MSCU – we're ready to serve you whether you wish to utilize all our products and services or just 1 or 2. You will receive professional, courteous, and timely service from MSCU employees.
2. Who is eligible to join MSCU?
Eligible applicants include SCG employees, retirees, contractors, and immediate family members of existing MSCU members. A list of eligible employers can be found here.
3. How do I become a member?
To become a member, complete a membership application (original document required), attach a clear copy of a government issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, etc.) for yourself and any persons that will be joint on your accounts, attach $5.00 cash, check, or money order made payable to yourself, and either bring to the Atlanta MSCU branch location, or use the
inter–company mail and send to Mutual Savings CU – Atlanta LOC 1141. If you want to use the USPS then mail to MSCU at PO Box 4569 Atlanta, GA 30302.
4. What if the Atlanta MSCU branch is not convenient for me?
You have access to more than 5,000 credit union branches in all 50 states – you can conduct transactions just like you would at our branch in Atlanta. That's because MSCU is a part of the Shared Branch Network. So you can make deposits, transfers and account inquiries, and get person–to–person assistance with your accounts, even when you're not close to our Atlanta branch. Finding the nearest Shared Branch is easy with the Locator Tool on the MSCU website (upper right hand corner of the Home Page), download the MSCU mobile banking app on your smart phone or call 1-888-SITE-COOP for location help.
5. Where can I find an ATM?
Mutual Savings has joined CULIANCE® ATM network. The network boasts the nation's largest surcharge-free ATM network in the country with over 75,000 surcharge-free ATMs. Twice as large as the nearest competitor and nearly three times the size of the largest national bank, CU HERE® surcharge-free programs allow MSCU members fee-free access to their funds at on- and off-premise locations across the country. Finding the nearest Surcharge-free ATM is easy with the Locator Tool on the MSCU website (listed under the Useful Links at the bottom of Home Page) or the MSCU mobile banking app.
6. Does Mutual Savings have Mobile Banking, Home Banking and bill payment services?
YES - You can access and manage your accounts from anywhere, any time for free with our Home Banking and our Mobile Banking applications (you can even deposit checks to your MSCU accounts using the mobile app). We also have a free bill payment service called IPay that allows you to schedule payments the day you want the money to come out of your account. 7. Are there fees associated with the savings and checking accounts?
There are no monthly maintenance fees and no minimum balance requirements associated with the savings and checking accounts (money market accounts have minimum balance requirements). 8. When and How can I apply for a loan?
You can apply for a loan immediately after membership has been established. To apply for a loan, you may complete an online application or you may call a loan representative at (800) 771-6695. Please contact us for more information on loans or click here for a loan application.
9. What are the best loans that MSCU offers?
Members continue to tell us that MSCU auto/boat/RV/motor cycle loans are especially competitive - try us - You'll Like What You See and Hear! Mutual Savings continues to offer unsecured loans by way of Signature Loans, Visa Credit Cards, Summertime Loans and Christmas Loans. More than 1,100 of these loan types were granted in 2015 (amount exceeded $1.9 million).
10. Does MSCU offer mortgage loans?
Yes, MSCU is partnered with Member First Mortgage (MFM), a mortgage banking firm. You can depend on MFM to help you with every step of the home loan process, as well as special rates and closing costs reserved for MSCU members.
